The pastor will review this covenant and these responsibilities annually with the assistance of the personnel committee of the session (see procedures under the Personnel Committee) to determine what special emphases should be given to his work as the church goes forth with it mission for each calendar year. The pastor shall also tell the personnel committee of any special assistance which would enhance his ability to meet his responsibilities. If changes in the covenant or terms of the pastor’s call are approved by the session, the revised covenant and call shall be presented to the congregation for approval. After approval by the congregation, these changes will be reported to the Presbytery in the appropriate manner. The pastor shall use resources provided by the church and other organizations to promote his abilities to perform his duties with the approval of the session.

The pastor will be aware of the entire program of the church and shall seek to coordinate planned activities among the various groups involved.

Absences for Sunday Worship Service — When the pastor wishes to take vacation, study leave, or to be absent from Sunday worship services for other reasons, such absences, except in the cases of illness or emergencies, must be approved by the session. This approval must be sought in advance to allow sufficient time to secure a supply minister. When the pastor is to be away, a telephone number and address where he can be reached in time of emergency must be left with the clerk of the session and the chairman of the worship committee.
